1/35 Tamiya USMC M60A1 w/ Reactive Armor

Always loved the look of this heavily clad M60 monster with the reactive armor.  It looks like a war machine especially when well worn, dirty, and grimy.  So I wanted I good, fun build of this subject so Tamiya was the way to go.  May have some minor accuracy issues but I'm not a "rivet counter" so I knew it would be fine.

Yes, this is the old Tamiya mold of the venerable M60.  Yes the one with the chassis holes and cut outs for the optional motors offered some 20 plus years ago or longer.  It does have some new sprue trees to modify and modernize.  I also wanted a certain wheel version often pictured when looking a desert war photo's of the USMC M60s.  I believe the difference is some M60s had cast iron steel wheels vs. some other type of steel or aluminum.  It basically has spokes vs. more flat look.  So I ordered some after market resin wheels to get this look.  I also wanted a busy looking more detail accurate looking commanders turret atop of the main turret.  So I orderd another after market product to get this look.  I had some fun using my airbrush on this one with pre and post shading using browns and blacks.  Also used several mixes to get accurate sand color camo often seen on these MBTs.  Went nots with the weathering and really love the final look.  It captured what I wanted and then some.  Fun and easy build.
